THE HISTORY BEHIND THE STYLE

Inspired by the success of the 101, the mailman’s uniform oxford, model 214 was originally introduced in 1959 for factory workers who needed a work boot able to stand up to the demands of their trades and still deliver superior comfort. The 214, a 8-Inch soft toe work boot was created to meet their needs. The boots were built with the same neoprene outsole as the 101, colored red to match the rich hue of the oxblood leather upper, and with a defined heel for safety, since climbing ladders and scaffolding was a common occupational requirement. Model 214 would prove to be a big seller and was part of the Red Wing line for almost 40 years.
The 213 was built with a purpose in mind and a job to do. Introduced at a time when the growth of America was on the rise and seeing a boom in industry, these moc toe oxfords were designed for the American factory worker. The moc toe style is classic Red Wing work with Oxblood Mesa leather, Brown Neoprene Cushion, triple stitched quality and Goodyear welt construction.
